Education and Activity Building

Hope Village opened an 18,000 sq. ft. Community and Education Building in February 2016. This building includes 5 new classrooms, a sensory lab, an event center, a performance stage for resident programs, office and staff training space, and storage space.

The new space allows Hope Village to increase the number of individuals serviced in its day program from 100 to 140. At this time, 60 residential Villagers and 40 additional Villagers, who live off-site with their families, attend the program. The new project will allow for a total of 80 off-site Villagers to take part in the day program, a 100% increase in that category.

The new building will also allow Hope Village to streamline services for current clients by allowing us to keep classes and programs running according to their regular schedule year-round, without interruptions, even during Hope Village's numerous community events. These events provide earned-income for Hope Village, allowing the organization to charge significantly less than many comparable providers in the Houston area. Earned-income funds also go toward supporting the organization's Endowment Fund, which allows Hope Village to provide full scholarships to some long-term residents who have lost their families' financial support over the years.

Hope Village received tremendous support from local and national philanthropic foundations. We are now seeking funds for capital improvements which include some funds to outfit the new building, but also to make improvements to existing buildings.
