When we think of our favorite Christmas traditions, one that immediately springs to mind is the advent calendar.  The advent calendar is an opportunity to take a treat (often a piece of chocolate) and reflect each day on a scripture related to the birth of Jesus.

This year, Hope Village has decided to take a unique spin on the advent calendar, with the idea that “It is more blessed to give than receive” (Acts 20:35).  Our reverse advent calendar encourages you to reflect on one assigned verse each day, and rather than taking a treat, placing a specific food pantry item in a box to benefit Hope Village.  At the end of the month, we ask that you donate these items to benefit the Hope Village pantry.  Those not local to the area who want to participate in this challenge may choose to donate a $50 grocery card instead.
